'Hawker' -or- 'Vendor'

In many circles the word 'Hawker' is offensive, however that is the term most commonly used to describe what we do. A 'Hawker' is someone who 'Hawks' or shouts, brings attention to or just plain sells while walking around. The term is mostly used on the West Coast or even in the Southeast, there are pockets around the country that use this term as well, Boston, Pittsburgh and Kansas City.

The word 'Vendor' is mistaken by most people as to being a street peddler or a vendor at a fair. I prefer to be called a 'Vendor'. I guess it's what you are used to. The term is used mostly in the Mid-West and the East Coast.

In travels I have heard the term 'Seatvendor', 'Walker' -or- even 'Mobile Vendor'.

It is a matter of preference.
